Northern Ireland Climate Change Adaptation Programme (NICCAP) 2019 – 2024

The 2017 UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA), identifies priority climate change risks and opportunities faced in NI. The NI Government is required to develop a Northern Ireland Climate Change Adaptation Programme (NICCAP) to address the outlined risks.

On behalf of the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), Climate NI has developed a chapter titled “Civil Society and Local Government Adapts”, which is included in the NI Climate Change Adaptation Programme for the period 2019–2024 (NICCAP2) and is due to be published soon.

NICCAP2 Outcome Objectives

The chapter illustrates the important role and adaptation of the academic, private and community & voluntary sectors by outlining their contribution to delivering the outcome objectives of NICCAP2 and in addressing the risks and opportunities outlined in the NI Evidence report 2017.

The NICCAP Supporting Document has been developed for use as a reference paper to provide further information about each of the adaptation actions and case studies outlined in the chapter and the associated outcome objective delivery plans. This will be published on our website in the coming months.
