Nordic Conference on Climate Change Adaptation
Nordic solutions for robust societies

5th Nordic Conference on Climate Adaptation, NOCCA, takes place from lunch to lunch between Tuesday 23 October and Thursday 25 October.

The conference will highlight, discuss and be inspired by Nordic adaptation solutions. The languages spoken will be English, Swedish/Norwegian/Danish.

Tuesday afternoon key note session: Adaptation in the Nordic region – making it happen together

To overcome the challenges brought to the Nordic region with a changing climate, all parts of society must contribute with their expertise. In this opening session, the scene will be set by representatives with different perspectives and experiences of how the work can be done. Speakers include: Representative from the European Commission, unit for Adaptation to Climate Change: State of play on the EU strategy on adaptation – why do we need it, and what’s in it for the Nordic countries?

Karen O’Brien, Professor in the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at the University of Oslo, Norway: From adaptation to transformation: Evaluating the state of adaptation science.

Óli Grétar Blöndal Sveinsson, Head of Research and Developement at Landsvirkjun, Iceland: Adapting the Icelandic power sector to a changing climate.

Karin Thomasson, Fourth vice–Chairman of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL).
